General Options is the very first tab which contains all the essential settings for WP User Frontend. You will find this page from wp-admin → User Frontend → Settings → General
Fixed Form Elements: The form elements are located on the right side of the form builder page. This option is selected by default. So the sidebar scrolls up and down as you scroll to allow you to choose the elements easily if you are working with a form with plenty of fields. But sometimes the sidebar position conflicts with other plugin styles and might hide some of the elements. So in that case, you can uncheck this option.
Edit Page: This is a mandatory option. When you activated the plugin for the first time, the pages were installed automatically or you may see a prompt to install the required pages. This page contains the shortcode
[wpuf_edit]. Remember, the name of the page does not matter. So you can name the edit page in whatever language you like. But it must contain the above-mentioned shortcode and it must be selected here in the settings.
Default Post Owner: This option will be only used in case of guest posts. Because WordPress must have an author information for each post. As we are not asking for any login information for guest posts, all the guest posts will be assigned to the user selected here. You may make an account with the name “Anonymous” and make that responsible for guest posts.
Admin Area Access: As WP User Frontend is a frontend based system and regular users can manage almost everything without accessing the admin area, you might want to turn off the backend access. So using this option, you can select people with which user roles can access the admin area.
Override the post edit link: If you select yes, then all the users will have to edit all of their posts from frontend not matter what their role is. All the post edit links everywhere should point to the frontend edit page.
If you select no, then the users who have backend access will be taken the backend edit page. People who do not have access to the backend will be taken to the frontend edit page.
Show Custom Fields: If you want to show all the custom field data just like it is ordered on the form, then you can enable this option. But remember, if you have some custom fields printed from your theme template, then they will be displayed twice.
Like if you are using WP User Frontend to create WooCommerce products from the frontend and you have a WooCommerce compatible theme. So the theme already has price field embedded. Then if you select this option, then the price will be printed twice.
Insert Photo Image Size: What would be the default size of the inserted image in the post content area. You can select various options like thumbnail, medium, medium-large, large, post-thumbnail and full. We recommend using the full size for best results.
Insert Photo Image Type: There is two available option. The first one is “image only”. This will just insert the image and the image will not clickable. So if you have selected the “Insert Photo Image Size” as a thumbnail and the user has inserted a 2200px X 3000px image, then the viewers will not be able to click and enlarge the image.
If you select “image with link”, then the image will be clickable and the original size image
Enable Image Caption: If you enable this option, then the users will see some extra fields with images to insert image title, caption, and alt text.
Default Post Form: If there is no form found for the current post, then it will be used. Suppose you have some posts in your site which was created not using WP User Frontend or before installing WP User Frontend. Those posts does not have a form ID. So you will not be able to edit that post from frontend see an error message that “I do not have a form ID”. So to avoid that, you can set a default form with basic fields and assign here.
reCAPTCHA Public Key: This option is not mandatory and often our users leave these fields blank. But we recommend using CAPTCHA for registration and guest posting forms. You will need the reCAPTCHA public key for using this option. Please refer to the tutorial – Configuring reCAPTCHA for Registration and Posting Form
reCAPTCHA Private Key: You will need to put your reCAPTCHA private key here. The above tutorial shows how you can get these keys.
Google Map API: With this option, you can render Google Maps to your form. You will require the API key for this feature. See how you can get Maps API key from Google.
Custom CSS Codes: If you want to use some custom styling in the form, then you can write them here.
